Happy Holidays and Merry New Year, Everyone! I took a bit of extra time on this post to highlight every new album that I listened to this year, sorted by release month. I did this last year on my Instagram, and it ended up being a big hit, so I decided to let a project like this have its first official release through my blog. Each album featured here has a quick little paragraph or a couple of sentences written about it, along with Wikipedia or Bandcamp links embedded to give more information than I can produce. Each anecdote is just my personal and unprofessional opinion on the project. Resources for feedback and links to streaming playlists of the songs included are at the end.
January
Perverts~ Ethel Cain: Starting this year with the most GUT-WRENCHING AND HORRIFYING drone album to make me feel like total shit every time I played it. I LOVED IT. Favorite song(s): Vacillator, Amber Waves
Balloonerism~ Mac Miller: Continuing the Miserable start to the year, Balloonerism has a lot of great Mac Miller deep cuts. The original 2020 leak had more content, but it’s great to see some of these tracks get full releases. Long Live Mac Miller 🎈Favorite song(s): Stoned, DJ’s Chord Organ
Eusexua~ FKA Twigs: A really incredible avant-garde dance-pop record. This was supposed to come out the same day as The Weeknd’s last album, and I’m glad it didn’t because it really deserved the spotlight that it got. It’s not my favorite of the year, but I was really excited to hear it because of how unique it is. Favorite song(s): Eusexua, Drums of Death
Hurry Up Tomorrow~ The Weeknd: This is Abel Tesfaye’s last album under the The Weeknd brand. It was alright for what it was, but admittedly a disappointing end to his legacy. The momentum that the first 25 minutes of the album has gets lost pretty quickly. It was great to hear him revisit past styles, but it didn’t live up to the hype for me. Favorite song(s): Open Hearts, Enjoy The Show
February
Glutton for Punishment ~ Heartworms: This album is a really cool take on goth rock in 2025. There’s a lot of fun to be had with this record, but a lot of room for the band to grow as well. The first couple of listens are totally worth it, so don’t skip this release. Favorite song(s): Jacked
Choke Enough ~ Oklou: This album sounds like pop music for bugs, and it’s sick. Oklou came from the school of Bladee, so production sounds familiar even if it’s a new record. My preferred versions of her tracks are on a Web Performance for NTS, where she sings on an ice rink with figure skaters dancing around her. It’s a brilliant artistic recording for a low budget, but her voice is mesmerising in that video. Favorite song(s): harvest sky, blade bird
Cowards ~ Squid: This album was great for occupying record store shelves, but was wildly overshadowed by Turnstile and Geese coming out with albums later this year. I forgot all about this record when the next thing was released.
Horror ~ Bartees Strange: I picked up this album on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. A couple of tracks made it on my ‘Best of the Year’ playlist, but I listen to those tracks more than I revisit the record. Favorite song(s): Lovers
Phonetics On and On ~ Horsegirl: (Not to be confused with horsegiirL, the EDM artist) This LP is a wholesome little twee-pop album that reminds me of the Juno movie soundtrack from 2007. It makes for a great indie pick and got enough recognition to be featured on the soundtrack for the SKATE video game. Don’t miss this one. Favorite song(s): Switch Over, Rock City
Some Sexy Songs 4 U ~ PartyNextDoor and Drake: DNF. Shit was trash. Nokia was fine, but don’t waste the hour and thirteen minutes of your life.
Wish Defense ~ FACS: I saw this band live at my local record store and checked out the album that they played from. It’s a splendid little art/prog rock project.
12 ~ Westside Gunn: Great gym album if you need it for that, but if you prefer other Westside Gunn albums, then have no fear, cause he dropped TWO MORE before the end of the frickin year.
Sinister Grift ~ Panda Bear: Honestly, one of my favorite albums of the year. Praise was my number 1 streamed song of 2025, and it reminds me of when my girlfriend and I just started dating. Also, shout out to the owner of Strictly Discs in Madison WI, who let me keep the promo poster from his shop when I expressed interest in the project. Favorite song(s): Praise, Ends Meet
Club Shy Room 2 ~ Shygirl: I listened to it, but I didn’t really like it. I saved the album after her features with Charli XCX, but her catalog just isn’t for me, I guess.
March
Mayhem~ Lady Gaga: She reheated her own nachos, and it might be some of my favorite songwriting from Gaga since The Fame Monster. Favorite song(s): How Bad Do U Want Me, Killah
Dead Channel Sky ~ clipping.: Daveed Diggs definitely raps like a Broadway star, and he’s awe-inspiring, but it’s just not doing it for me. Really cool production tho. Favorite song(s): Dominator
Surrender ~ Amira Elfeky: She fumbled so hard. I was really watching out for her career because she had this dark shoegaze mixed with a hard rock vibe that sounded like Sextape by the Deftones. Then she dropped this project, and all of that was thrown out of the window to be derivative and try to attract fans of the most popular current-gen metal bands out right now. I was really disappointed.
MUSIC~ Playboi Carti: Grab your top 4 favorite songs from this album for your TikTok edits and your White Boy Rage playlist, then GTFO. There’s no reason for this album to be 30 songs long, and it doesn’t live up to the hype that Carti tried to generate for this record FOR YEARS. It also doesn’t help that everyone who was a fan of his records is now older and likely has outgrown his music (pun intended). Even the songs that were teased last winter are worse on this album than in the original videos. I really do miss the rage.Favorite song(s): Rather Lie, HBA
Equus Asinus~ Men I Trust: The first of two albums released this year by Men I Trust. This record paves the way for the 2nd one they released this year. It’s a brilliant vibe if you’re a fan of this band, but Equus Caballus, which was released later this year, heavily overshadows this one. Favorite song(s): Pauls Theme
Night Life~ The Horrors: I picked up this album at the same time that I picked up Glutton for Punishment ~ Heartworms. It’s another little one-off that I enjoyed listening to. That’s really all I have to say about it. Favorite song(s): More Than Life, Lotus Eater
Oyster~ Chloe Moriondo: One of my friends put me onto this record, and I enjoyed it on my first listen. It fits in well in today’s Indie Pop climate with its fun bounciness. Favorite Song(s): shoreline
Gaman~ Star 99: Go listen to these guys. It’s a really good alt-rock record with Coi Fish on it (so what’s not to love?) Reminds me of college or high school when I was trying to develop my own tastes. Favorite song(s): Kill, Esta
Patience, Moonbeam~ Great Grandpa: This album fits a very particular niche that fans of Peach Pit and Cavetown would enjoy. Not for me, but if that speaks to you, then pick up this one too.
For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad woman) ~ Japanese Breakfast: Whoops, I guess I’m neither of the criteria that the album title suggests. That Jeff Bridges feature is wild tho. Favorite song(s): Men in Bars
April
Star ~ 2hollis: I’m throwing ass to this album as we speak. Such a good electropop album, and I feel like the internet cloud rap soft boys really cooked with this one. Favorite song(s): flash, destroy me
Forever Howlong ~ Black Country, New Road: Not as good as Ants From Up There, their last album, but don’t rule this album out because of that. The band is still releasing a beautiful orchestration of sounds that retains the quality they’ve cemented into their discography. Each song sounds so full of music with the different instrumentation that each band member brings. They’ve really upped their production value, and it sucks that they don’t have Isaac Wood anymore, but they’re doing just fine for themselves. Favorite song(s): Besties, Happy Birthday
The Crux ~ Djo: This is my girlfriend’s album of the year! We listened to it a lot when it first released, and I think it’s a great step up in artistic growth and songwriting for Joe Keery. The deluxe package that came out later in the year also expands on that. Overall, Djo excels at capturing the atmosphere of his inspirations, which is prevalent throughout the entire record. Favorite song(s): Basic Being Basic, Link
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Original Soundtrack) ~ Lorien Testard, Sandfall Interactive: For those of you who don’t play as many video games, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was Game of the Year at the official 2025 Game Awards presentation. The game also won eight other awards at the same ceremony, including Lorien Testard’s win for Best Score & Music. The soundtrack is Elegant and Artsy while remaining Epic for the game’s more picturesque moments. Songs like Lumiere and Alicia reflect the beauty of the game as if it’s an expertly crafted painting, while the loud and climactic Une Vie a T’aimer conspires with the scale of narrative.
Revengeseekerz~ Jane Remover: I didn’t think I liked hyperpop anymore and that I was growing out of it, but WOW, this record slaps. It’s loud, it’s bold, it’s in your face, and overstimulating. But the hits on this album make me wanna drink 300mg of caffeine and see how fast I can run down the street. Also top contender for coolest album cover of the year. If you like the 2hollis and Oklou projects, then grab this one too! Favorite song(s): Psychoboost, Professional Vengeance
Ginkgo~ Panchiko: I like this band, and I think that their backstory of having an album flop and crush their ambitions only to blow up on the internet 20 years later is one of the best stories in the streaming era of music. In this record, they pulled a lot of pages from Radiohead’s and The Flaming Lips’ books. It works for them, and it’s cool to see a project with that sort of sonic inspiration released in 2025. Also, that Billy Woods feature is crazy. Favorite song(s): Shady in the Graveyard
Sable, Fable ~ Bon Iver: I like seeing Bon Iver win like this. Some of the writing schemes he uses in his lyrics can be a bit strange and could’ve been better. Still, its a brilliant collection of tracks and Justin Vernon really put his all into it. Along with everyone who was involved with the tracks like Dijon, Mk.Gee, and Danielle Haim. It was a great springtime record, and the song From ended up being one of my favorites of the year. Favorite song(s): From, Day One
Superheaven ~ Superheaven: This album gets a certified ‘Hell Yeah Brother’ from me.
D4vd ~ Withered: D4vd could’ve grown his sound after this record and progressed into a really good artist with a strong career, but instead he decided to kill his underage girlfriend instead and ditch the body in the trunk of a car. I don’t think having your lead single be included on the Invincible soundtrack is gonna make up for that. Favorite song(s): Feel It
At The Beach, in Every Life ~ Gigi Perez: I listened to it twice, and I liked it when I did. Moving on. Favorite song(s): Chemistry
Under Tangled Silence ~ Djrum: I didn’t care for this record when I first listened to it, but I’ve been on a big IDM kick recently, and I appreciated it more after I revisited it. I think I just didn’t know what I was getting into right away, but it grew on me.
Luster ~ Maria Somerville: This might be my album of the year. It’s dreamy and hypnotic. When the album is finished, I sometimes start it over from the beginning and play it back. Not only is it my favorite shoegaze album of the year, but I just keep beating this record into the ground, and I can’t stop playing it. It’s sticking with me as a period piece for the specific phase of life that I’m in right now, and it’s always influenced my mood. I cannot recommend this album enough. Favorite song(s): Garden, Spring
May
The Scholars~ Car Seat Headrest: For the first time since 2018, it doesn’t feel lame to be a Car Seat Headrest fan! This album is a concept record, and concept albums are a dime a dozen, with the majority of listeners not getting it. I don’t really know the full story, but I do think that a lot of these are some of the best original songs the band’s released for a long time. Favorite song(s): CCF (I’m Gonna Stay With You), The Catastrophe (Good Luck With That, Man)
We Live in a Society~ Flume and JPEGMafia: I didn’t like this project, but I think that the first half of the record is just the two goofing off and not really enjoyable songs.
Equus Callabus~ Men I Trust: The better of the two Men I Trust albums that came out this year. Favorite song(s): Ring of Past, Husk
Blue Potion ~ DR. GABBA: Ah yuzzz, very frutiger aero. Good for gaming 🐠🌍💚🎧🫧 Favorite song(s): Acid Heart
7 Piano Sketches ~ Andre 3000: Man is still cranking out ambient jazz records, and im proud of him. His appearance at the Met Gala also helped with the project’s release; his outfit was even featured on the cover.
Golliwog ~ Billy Woods: I remember the advertising for this record was suggesting that this was a ‘Horror Album’ and I’d argue that Perverts by Ethel Cain does that much better. But what you have here is one of the best abstract hip hop albums of the year and maybe even one of the best rap albums of 2025. If this is your introduction to Billy Woods, then I really hope you stick around to see how talented this man is. He raps like he’s seen the end of the world. Favorite song(s): Misery
Sincerely ~ Kali Uchis: This album is sexy💞🥵💫… Favorite song(s): heaven is Home…, All I Can Say
Fancy That ~ Pinkpantheress: I do fancy this album. Short little songs that hit a very good Frutiger Metro vibe and feel reminiscent of the mid-2000s that I grew up in. Favorite song(s): Illegal, Stars
Tall Tales~ Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke: This is a smart album for smart people (and im dumb as hell). It’s not EXACTLY what Thom Yorkes fans have been asking for, but it’s a quality release, and if you like Radiohead, The Smile, or IDM or whatever, then it’s a cool record to eat up. Favorite song(s): A Fake in a Faker’s World
Instant Holograms on Metal Film~ Stereolab: Stereolab is such a good band, man. Everything they make is beautiful, with incredible production and sound engineering. If you like this record, then go check out the rest of their discography and walk through the city or a field of flowers. Favorite song(s): Aerial Troubles, Transmuted Matter
Caroline 2~ Caroline: Pitchfork gaslit me into thinking that this was going to be one of the most important albums of the year since reviews for it were so high, but it’s very avant-garde and a bit of a tough listen. Prolly keep moving unless you’re purposely looking for abstract.
Evangelic Girl is a Gun~ Yeule: Critics were very unimpressed with this album, which upset me because I thought it was really good. I’m a fan of Yeule, and I think their music is stunningly unique and brilliant artistically. Favorite song(s): Dudu, What3vr
June
What’s Not to Love?~ Mister Romantic (John C. Reilly) ~ “THAT’S CAUSE YOU FUCKING TOUCHED MY DRUMSET! CAUSE I KNOW THAT COPS DOESN’T START UNTIL 4” ~ John C. Reilly in Step Brothers
Love Made Trees~ Loaded Honey, Kydia Kitto, J Lloyd: I’ve never heard another human talk about this album, but I listened to it quite a bit at release. Its dreamy R&B that works best in intimate situations with your lover. Favorite song(s): Lessons, Only Gonna Let You Down
Happy Birthday~ Finn Wolfhard: Getting to see Finn grow as an artist in real time is really cool. Just like Joe Keery, you can tell that they seem to be really motivated by their influences, while being great at incorporating their own flavor. This was a cool listen, and it’s really short.
Never Enough~ Turnstile: I think I told everyone I know about this record when it first came out. That’s because I really do believe in this band, and those first couple of listens were divine for me. As time goes on, not every song sticks with me as much as I had hoped, but the tracks that do stay in rotation are some of my favorites of 2025. Favorite song(s): I CARE, BIRDS
I Quit~ Haim: They, in fact, did NOT quit and instead released a very nice album.
Flowers~ Durand Jones & The Indications: I just heard this album for the first time, the same week that I’m writing this. My buddy Colton put me onto their grooves, and it’s a cozy R&B record that feels intimate. Favorite song(s): Rust and Steel
Virgin~ Lorde: Lots of great songs, but also not her best work. This album really isn’t for me, but I’m happy her fans get to eat after having to starve for every 4 years between albums. Favorite song(s): What Was That?
July
Let God Sort Em Out~ Clipse: The hip hop and rap industry was starving for a lyrically surgical album like this. Every bar is precise and methodical. Pusha T and Malice are at the top of their game. Favorite song(s): Chains & Whips, P.O.V.
Moisturizer~ Wet Leg: This album deserved the Grammy nomination that it got. Probably one of the best indie-rock albums of the year. Favorite song(s): davina mccall, pokemon
Headlights~ Alex G: Finally, some goddamn recognition for Alex G. He’s been making songs for YEARS and always has been that artist that everyone’s kinda heard of but his fans have been clawing at the walls for him to have commercial success, and with this being his first major label debut, it finally came. Go listen to it since everyone and their moms are into y’allternative this year. Favorite song(s): Afterlife
Don’t Tap the Glass~ Tyler, The Creator: LIKE SUGAR ON MY… TONGUE! Can I steal that from youuuuuuu!!!!! 🎶🎤😚 Favorite song(s): Sugar on my Tongue, Ring Ring Ring
Alfredo 2~ Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist: This album is special to me since it was the first review I ever wrote for Screen Falcon, and then I went and saw the Red Rocks concert over Halloween, and it was one of the best live shows I saw this year. I’ve already spoken a lot about this one, so if you wanna read that review, then click the link. Favorite song(s): Ensalada, Lemon Pepper Steppers
Iron~ Post Animal: Another one that my girlfriend likes because of Joe Keery’s involvement. Lots of good tracks. Favorite song(s): Setting Sun
Air Between Us~ Coral Grief: I had never heard of these guys before I saw them play live at my local record store. Good shoegaze dream pop vibes. Favorite song(s): Latitude
August
If Not Winter~ Wisp: This album fucks hard. The Gen-Z Shoegaze revival should be studied, and Wisp is a direct product of that movement. As a debut album, it’s quite impressive. I can’t wait to see what she does next. Favorite song(s): Guide light
Panda~ Ley Soul: This was a ‘blink, and you miss it’ EP release. Funky R&B swank that’s directly inspired by Erykah Badu’s grooves. Had some good luck with the TikTok algorithm for a lot of people. Favorite song(s): Intergalactic Janet, Fortune Eyes
The Passionate Ones~ Nourished by Time: This album would’ve been sick if I gave a shit during my initial listen. My dumbass wasn’t paying attention or caring tho.
Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You~ Ethel Cain: Ethel Cain’s 2nd album of the year and 3rd mention in this list. I don’t prefer this album over Perverts or Preachers Daughter, for that matter. It fits well into her lore, and her tour for this album was incredible. Read my full review of it here. Favorite song(s): Nettles, Radio Towers
Racing Mount Pleasant ~ Racing Mount Pleasant: This album is heavily inspired by Ants From Up There by Black Country, New Road, and you can hear how much they took from that band. If you want a spiritual successor to that project, then check this out, but I do want to see how this band develops their own sound rather than staying derivative. Favorite song(s): Seminary
I Love My Computer ~ Ninajirachi: 2025 is on a roll for the EDM / Dance Punk genre. This record is no exception. I’m gonna spend some more time with it, but this was a good one. Favorite song(s): Fuck My Computer, iPod Touch
It’s a Beautiful Place ~ Water From Your Eyes: The owner of Total Drag in Sioux Falls was telling me about this record as it was released. I was coming in to look for the Deftones and Mac DeMarco, and he recommended this project. Glad he did, cause this was awesome! Favorite song(s): Born 2, Playing Classics
Baby ~ Dijon: I don’t like this album more than his last one, but I think his aesthetic that he’s been working with came full circle on this record. Go listen to Yamaha from this record; it’s another one of the best songs to come out this year. Favorite song(s): Yamaha
Ain’t No Damn Way! ~ Kaytranada: This album and Tyler, the Creator’s album share a lot in common. Mostly, they’re short and digestible dance albums with high bpm that you can move to from start to finish. These are great for driving fast or working out. Favorite song(s): CHAMPIONSHIP
Star Line ~ Chance the Rapper: Chance played it really safe on this album to gain back his fans’ trust after a huge flop and a long ass break. It’s good, but read my review for it, and you’ll see my point. Favorite song(s): Link Me In the Future, Burn Ya Block
Private Music~ Deftones: This album kicks ass. I have no notes or changes that I would’ve made. Favorite song(s): my mind is a mountain, infinite source
Live Laugh Love~ Earl Sweatshirt: Earl has been at the top of his game, and his pen has been sharp for a frickin decade. Even though he makes music for rap nerds that like to listen to music like this 🤔. His one-liners throughout the record are also stellar. Favorite song(s): INFATUATION
Free~ Kid Cudi: This album was released alongside his book, and I consumed both. I liked the book more than I ate up the album tho.
A Matter of Time~ Laufey: YYYYEEEESSS LAUFEEEYYY! SHOW THEM WHO YOU ARE!!!!! Favorite song(s): Castle in Hollywood
Guitar~ Mac DeMarco: Mac DeMarco’s evolution from slacker rock and bedroom pop pioneer into a byproduct of Neil Young’s teachings shouldn’t have been surprising for his fans, who saw it coming. You can tell that he’s getting really comfortable in his new sound, and it’s working for his audience, which is growing up alongside him. There’s still work to be done, but this record is satisfying. Favorite song(s): Nightmare, Home
The Heels Have Eyes 2~ Westside Gunn: This man’s coke consumption must be through the roof to keep cranking out records like this back to back.
Thirst~ Slow Crush: Cool album, but their 2020 album remains king.
Essex Honey ~ Blood Orange: Blood Orange was really at the top of their game with this project, and the features are incredible. When this album was released, I was busy listening to other music, so I had to come back to this one after the fact. Favorite song(s): The Field
September
Bleeds ~ Wednesday: Another really good Y’allternative record. Perfect fall release that dominated streaming charts. Favorite song(s): Townies, Elderberry Wine
Getting Killed ~ Geese: Cameron Winter has been on a tremendous run of just writing out whatever beautiful golden tracks come from his wacky brain, and I wouldn’t doubt we’ll hear more music from them within the next year. There’s still room for them to grow, but this album blew up on every social media platform and record store shelf that it’s not even funny. Getting Killed is likely to fill the hole in your music nerd friends’ hearts until next year’s unavoidable critically acclaimed indie record comes out and the last edition becomes overrated. Favorite song(s): Cobra, Taxes
Ascend~ Mont Duamel: 1000% Mk.Gee inspired, and I think this is just one of the waves of clones that we’re going to see following that artist. Good shit tho. Favorite song(s): Invisible Lines, Imagine
Bite Reality~ Cafune: I heard this band playing on the radio at my favorite tattoo shop. Their new album has good tracks, but hardly sticks out among the slurry of everything else that came out this year. Favorite song(s): In My Pocket, Temporary Lover
Blurrr~ Joanne Robertson: This album is dark and brooding. I listened to it on a bus ride home from Colorado once at 7 AM, and it filled the dread and dissociation I felt during that ride home. Favorite song(s): Ghost, Why Me
Portals//Polarities~ Night Tapes: This band is small enough that I truly might end up missing their next release. That’s not even on purpose, but I picked up this album on a whim, and it almost got lost in my Spotify library until I dug it out of the depths of my algorithm. It’s another dream pop album that I scraped together out of nowhere because I crave the genre more than I crave food or water. Favorite song(s): swordsman
Verses GT~ Verses GT, Nosaj Thing, Jacques Green: I just found this album recently. It’s a cool techno IDM record that fits my vibe when im trying to be productive at work.Favorite song(s): Unknown, Found
The Art of Loving~ Olivia Dean: Holy shit, her voice is incredible. Favorite song(s): So Easy (To Fall In Love), Man I Need
October
Deadbeat~ Tame Impala: Overhated record. I liked it a lot, but I’m always glad to hear artists take risky strides in new directions rather than what their categorized genre entitles them to. This time, we got a dance pop record. Read my review for more info. Favorite song(s): Dracula, Ethereal Connection
Melt~ Not For Radio: This album is also sexy💞🥵💫… and, it’s Maria Zardoya’s, from the band The Maria’s, solo project. Favorite song(s): Puddles, Back to You
Heels Have Eyes 3 ~ Westside Gunn: Another fucking Westside Gunn album
From the Pyre ~ The Last Dinner Party: Cool alternative album with show-tuney ass vocals. Favorite song(s): Count The Ways
November
Stardust~ Danny Brown: See, this is what I’m talking about when artists try new things, and it goes well for them. Danny Brown working with Hyperpop artists is a great fit with the weird, provocative style of rapping. You can tell he really tried to make something new for himself, and the payoff was satisfying. Favorite song(s): Copycats, Lift You Up
Another Picture ~ Blondshell: I remember listening to 23’s A Baby primarily off this album, cause it was on multiple indie playlists before the full release. I also remember not knowing they included the bonus tracks in the streaming package, so I listened to it for longer than I actually needed to. Favorite song(s): 23’s A Baby, Arms (feat. Gigi Perez)
sorry I thought you were someone else ~ K-Lone: One I decided to pick up before the end of the year since it charted well on Pitchfork’s website. Kind of a sleeper electronic album that Im glad I caught the boat on. Favorite song(s): someone else, sslip
Tranquilizer ~ Oneohtrix Point Never: I’ve been really into the ambient and drone genre recently, and I was really hoping that this would be the shit for me, cause I like the rest of his discography, but I think I was clickbaited and gaslit into liking this album more than I really did. Oh well 🙄.
The Universe Smiles Upon You II ~ Khruangbin: The original 2015 album was so good that they made it again from scratch for the 10th anniversary. This album spawned a lot of bands trying to copy the sound, but truly nobody captures the vibe better than Khruangbin. Favorite song(s): White Gloves ii, People Everywhere ii
Ego Death At A Bachelor Party ~ Hayley Williams: This is dope if you’re a big fan of her works or any of Paramore’s extended discography, but it’s more just a collection of songs to me than a cohesive project with album contexts. Take it as you will.
December
Unclouded~ Melody’s Echo Chamber: This is a beautiful and dreamy soundscape, but each of the tracks blends too much that it’s hard to pick out specific songs to call my favorite. I listened to this album like 6 times, and it became a background listen. A good background listen, but it’s hard to engage directly with. Favorite song(s): House That Doesn’t Exist, Into Shadows
Skate Story: Vol. I ~ Blood Cultures: A dope soundtrack for a dope game
Blizzard ~ Dove Ellis: Jeff Buckley sounding alt rock. I checked these guys out cause they’re opening up for Geese this year. Favorite song(s): Love Is
Thank you to everyone who made it this far and who may have joined me on this year’s musical journey or has been checking out my blog. This whole project was a bit of a big deal for me and took a couple of weeks’ worth of effort to compile the whole list and re-establish my opinions of most of the included albums. If there were any that I missed, then I’m always open to new suggestions or contrasting opinions in my Instagram DM’s
I also managed to make a couple of playlists with some of my favorite tracks of the year available on either Spotify or Apple Music. Should either of those interest you, then feel free to click the following links to take you to the mix’s
I think this sort of content structure works best for my blog as a whole and would be more interesting for my family and friends who read my articles as well, in comparison to the more traditional review posts. So expect blog posts in the future with more contemporary approaches.
Thank you again for all of the support and cheers to the new year!
